One of the greatest and most important Villelli developements ... Home! |

|
The Villelli Home (affectionately named "Big Idaho" by the young Villelli boys during its construction in the early 1980's) was, at the time of construction, the largest log home in the U.S. The home's over 21,000 square feet were designed by Dick and Marie Villelli as a place to raise their five boys. It is overwhelmingly constructed of just western larch from Canada and several western states including Idaho and native rock from a rock slide less than five miles from the home. Its status as the largest log home in the U.S. was not known until years after construction was completed. Its massive size was not intended to win any accolades it was merely meant to contain five boys in a family atmosphere.
For those that know Dick and Marie you know that they are very proud of the house that they build, but the home that it made for them and their boys, and now for their grandchildren and daughter in-laws, was its intent. "Big Idaho" is not about log, rock, dirt and steel but rather family, friends, love and affection.
